Judapest – The Jewish Quarter Then & Now

from 150 per person

Tour Highlights

A tour focusing on the events of WWII but also celebrating the unbreakable spirit of Budapest’s famous Jewish Quarter. Tradition and progress going hand in hand.

This private walk will take you to locations that have played an important role in the life of the Hungarian Jews from the Roman times up to present day. Their legacy and the way they contributed to Hungarian culture is unique and awe-inspiring: they did not only build the most beautiful synagogues in the world but also influenced our cuisine. Walking around in the former ghetto you will learn about the once thriving population and the devastating events that took place in 1944-45. The story, however, doesn’t end there: our Holocaust memorials still divide the nation with their hidden references and controversial messages and so the community today is busier than ever!
